Throughout the duration of the fall semester, three extremely talented and unique artist’s work will be showcased at Glendale Community College’s main campus. The exhibit will take place in the Palm Court Lounge in the Student Union (SU-104) and the entire series will run from September 8th through December 4th.
The first artist’s work that will be featured in the exhibit is GCC’s own art department faculty member, Sharon Forsmo. Her work will be featured in the exhibit from September 8th through October 1st, with an artist reception being held on September 19th from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Forsmo’s work that will be shown in the exhibit is primarily created using the classic medium of egg tempura using powered pigment. She uses the medium beautifully and delicately to create a variety of portraits, drawings, and paintings.
Jane Kelsey-Mapel, an Arizona native that is an art department faculty member here at GCC as well, will also have her work displayed at the upcoming exhibit. Her art will be featured in the exhibit from October 6th until October 29th and the reception will be held on opening night, Monday, October the 6th from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Kelsey-Mapel creates spectacular and whimsical figurative human-like sculptures using clay and other various media.
The last artist that will have work displayed in the Palm Court Lounge during the fall semester will be guest artist Myrna Harrison. Harrison’s artwork will be shown in the exhibit from November 3rd through December 4th with the reception being held on November 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Harrison’s stunning art that will be shown uses a captivating mix of colors and shapes to depict gorgeous Arizona landscapes.
