A 15-year-old teen alerted emergency dispatch at 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 18 that he had accidently discharged a gun he found outside a Burger King located near Broadway Road and Priest Drive in Tempe.
According to a report by The Arizona Republic, Tempe Police informed them that the bullet discharged from the firearm struck the teen in the foot. Officer Naomi Galbraith with Tempe police stated that the teen was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Arizona Republic also learned that the teen has provided officers with “inconsistent” information and would not help Tempe officers in locating the gun.
A witness provided Tempe police with information that revealed there was another male teen. The male teen is also refusing to provide additional information about what occurred.
Officer Naomi Galbraith announced that they have opened an investigation and will continue with efforts in locating the firearm.
