Those who love authentic New York style charbroiled food now have the option to enjoy it locally in the Valley at the family-owned restaurant, A Taste of Buffalo.

The restaurant, located at 17045 N. 59th Ave. Suite 103, features made-to-order burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and even house-made onion rings, potato chips.

Everything is charbroiled on a large grill at the front and in keeping with the open, welcoming atmosphere, the entire kitchen can be seen behind it.

According to Mike Juliano, the owner of A Taste of Buffalo, one of the most difficult obstacles he faced while opening was the rental and construction of the suite.

He and his family spent 8 months doing all building work themselves, only using a contractor in the kitchen due to city and state regulations.

A beautiful mural of the city of Buffalo, New York, is featured along the wall, and two TVs add to the relaxing and laid-back vibe.

In the six months they have been open, the restaurant has rapidly gained popularity with locals. They have 4.5 stars on Yelp and 4.8 stars on Facebook.

“It’s hard to find affordable restaurants that actually make your food fresh. This place is awesome, because you can actually see your food being made. Plus it wasn’t too loud or anything. I felt like I could hang out, talk to my friends, and eat in peace,” Kirstie Acree, a frequent patron of locally-owned businesses said.

Juliano, who is originally from Buffalo, NY, runs the business with his son, Michael. “My son is the cook. I’d never worked in a restaurant before in my life. But he loves to cook, so he’s been doing that most of his adult life,” Juliano said.

Although not every employee is related, his other children and grandchildren also help out working the register and kitchen, making the whole business a true family operation.

The menu includes things such as Beef on Weck and other items, which are familiar to Buffalo natives, making them extremely popular with those who moved here from New York.

Every sandwich and burger can be customized with the customer’s choice of cheese and toppings. “The chicken sandwich is my favorite, but I plan to eventually try everything on the menu, because it all looks so good,” Acree said.

“It’s always been my dream. So I decided to spend my retirement money and open a restaurant. I’m loving what I’m doing and I get to work with my son and my family,” Juliano said.
